Brian Eno, a multimedia artist who has always mixed light and sound, will be at the Medimex in Bari, showing a work where light is played as visual music. “Light paintings is also a way to reconsider the relation between the viewer and the video, going beyond the fixity of the viewer that usually characterizes the art enjoyment. As long as the screen will be considered only as an extension of a film or a television, the future can give us only a growing level of hysteria. On the contrary– Eno explains – I am interested in breaking the strict relation between the viewer and the video: making sure that the viewer does not stay seated but looks at the screen as when he/she admires a painting”. Brian Eno is the founder of “ambient music” and his installations show an evolving and strong sensory matrix where the relation between light, sound and space generates a unique and original concept. We remember the curiosity aroused by his first installations that, around the eighties, landed in Italy without the help of the current technology, and yet so engaging. Maybe, they were realized inside a deconsecrated church, which found a spiritual and inner charm thanks to him. Even through many creative collaborations, this true artist has never stopped to find, try and invent things. For Eno, creativity is a fluid state of mind and we will be very pleased to admire his works on the occasion of the Venice Biennale, until 22 November at Palazzo Pisani, with “The Sound of Creation”, sound paintings by Beezy Bailey and Brian Eno.
Bari / Medimex – 29, 30, 31 October 2015 – at Teatro Margherita.
